HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — With the Arctic front moving through the Houston area, icy conditions are being reported across the city.
We’ve got an Weather Alert out now until noon on Wednesday as freezing rain settles in and a hard freeze follows Monday and Tuesday nights.
In Sugar Land, city officials are closing the main lanes on US 59 in both directions due to dangerous, icy conditions on Monday.

The Texas Department of Transportation said crews are monitoring conditions and are pretreating major highway bridges, ramps and overpasses.
A storm chaser captured a video of drivers turning around, going the wrong way, to avoid ice that froze over a bridge in east Houston.

These are the icy roads reported in the Houston area:
SH 249
An overturned 18-wheeler on the Tomball Parkway prompted major closures southbound at Louetta.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said all lanes are closed after a big rig rolled over, and possibly leaking propane.
Traffic cameras captured the large truck in flames on the freeway.
SH 99
Fort Bend County authorities said State Highway 99 southbound at Cinco Ranch was closed due to icing along the overpasses from I-10 south to FM 1093.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George said they’ve also received reports of slick conditions along SH 99 at Mason.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said there were reports of iced roadways on the SH 99 main lanes at the 249 interchange and multiple crashes in the area.

I-10 at FM 359 in Brookshire
TranStar cameras showed an overturned 18-wheeler along the Katy Freeway, which is being shut down in both directions due to icy conditions.
The Department of Public Safety told ABC13 that the driver lost control due to weather conditions. DPS said the driver was OK, and no other vehicles were involved.
As of 4:30 p.m., the 18-wheeler was upright and towed away, prompting the westbound lanes to be reopened.

I-10 at Greenhouse and Fry

Ehling added seeing multiple accidents on I-10 westbound between Fry Road and Highway 99.
Harris County officials added that icy conditions were also reported in the 22300 block of North Freeway, along the main lanes, and in the 1800 block of FM 1960.
Hardy Toll Road
Houston TranStar is currently reporting icy conditions on the Hardy Toll Road at FM 1960.
All main lanes appear to be impacted.
Hardy Toll Road southbound at Louetta and Aldine Westfield roads are also being affected.

Beltway 8
Ice was also reported on West Sam Houston Tollway southbound at US-290 northwest, with the exit ramp, and left and right interchange ramps impacted.
According to Houston TranStar, a two-vehicle crash on the ramp was cleared at 1:58 p.m.
Another multi-vehicle crash was reported on US-290 northwest on the westbound lanes, just north of the beltway at Jones Road.

I-69
The I-69 main lanes and feeders on both directions between First Colony Boulevard and Crabb River Road and the I-69 southbound ramp are also reportedly being impacted by ice.

TranStar shows icy conditions on Westpark Tollway eastbound at I-69, with the exit ramp being affected.

METRO services
METRO officials said several lanes will be closed Monday afternoon and into Tuesday morning, depending on the weather.
Officials said local bus and METRORapid will be suspended starting at 9 p.m. on Monday.
The public transportation service said the 291 Conroe Park & Ride will also not be in service.
The following HOV/HOT Express lanes are impacted:
- I-45 North (North Freeway)
- I-45 South (Gulf Freeway)
- I-69 / U.S. Hwy. 59 North (Eastex Freeway)
- I-69 / U.S. Hwy. 59 South (Southwest Freeway)
- U.S. 290 West (Northwest Freeway)
- I-10 Katy-CBD elevated two-way ramp between downtown Houston and Studemont Street
METRORail will continue operate its regular service and METROLift riders with scheduled trips will not be affected.
Passengers needing assistance can call or text Customer Service at 713-635-4000 to request a ride until 11 p.m. on Monday. METRO said supervisors will also drive along routes to ensure everyone makes it home safely.
Montgomery County road closures due to weather conditions
Pct. 4 Constable Kenneth Hayden warned drivers that roads will soon be unable to pass. Bridges and overpasses are being blocked off in several areas due to icy roads.
“Stay off the roads if at all possible, as county and state officials have already responded to numerous motor vehicle accidents,” Hayden said.

SH-99 at US Highway 59 has been reopened.
