Survey crews with the National Weather Service identified a fifth tornado in the outbreak on May 25. The NWS said the tornado touched down in southwestern Eastland County at 5:42 p.m. covering a width of about 70 yards. The twister moved to the northeast for about 2.5 miles before dissipating about six minutes later. The crews said they found damage consistent with an EF-2 tornado with wind speeds of 115 mph. Faizan Zaki, a 6th grader from Plano ISD’s Rice Middle School, finished in second place in the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee and hoped to become the 17th national winner from the Lone Star State. Thursday was another day of trying to piece lives back together in the community of Valley View. A man was rescued from a vehicle in Dallas after it got stuck in high water Thursday afternoon. Dallas Fire-Rescue crews said they were called around 4 p.m. for a car stuck in the park. “It was pretty bad. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A 13-year-old boy has been charged with capital murder in connection with a fatal shooting in west Houston earlier this year. The Houston Police Department reports that 18-year-old Bryan De La Cruz Chaparro was killed during a robbery at an apartment complex located near Wilcrest and Briar Forest in February.
