Tremors of an earthquake were felt across Islamabad and its surrounding areas, with a magnitude of 4.8 recorded by the Seismological Centre. The earthquake struck at a depth of 17 kilometres underground, sending shockwaves through the capital city as well as Rawalpindi. According to the Seismological Centre, the epicentre of the earthquake was located 8 kilometres southeast of Rawalpindi. The tremors also affected several other cities, including Peshawar, Murree, and Jhelum, causing widespread panic.
