In a recent development, the remains of Bangladeshi Ph.D. student Nahidul Bristy have been confirmed in the United States. The authorities are making preparations to repatriate the body to Bangladesh. Two students, including a female, went missing on April 16th from the University of South Florida, where they were studying. The body of Jamil Lemon was found near a bridge on April 24th in a trash container, while the remains of Nahidul Bristy were also recovered and confirmed through official channels. According to the police, 26-year-old Hisham Abu Gharbia has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Jamil Lemon and his friend Nahidul Bristy.
Ghulam Mortaza, the press minister of the Bangladeshi embassy in the US, stated that the police confirmed Nahidul’s identity after contacting her brother. The family of the deceased Nahidul Bristy has requested the repatriation of her body to Bangladesh. In response, the Bangladeshi embassy is in contact with the US authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the remains.
According to the investigation, several questions were raised from a few days before the incident to a few hours before the discovery of the body. On the other hand, another student, Jamil Lemon’s body will also be repatriated to Dhaka on May 4th. According to the authorities, Jamil Lemon’s body will arrive at Shahjalal International Airport at 8:40 a.m. on a flight from the UAE.
Jamil Lemon and Nahidul Bristy were both Ph.D. students at the American university who went missing on April 16th. Nahidul’s brother, Zaid Hasan, told the Bangladeshi media that the police informed him that the DNA test of the human remains found in the residential complex matched those of his sister.

On April 24th, Jamil Lemon’s body was found near a bridge, and he was found to have multiple stab wounds and was bound. Later, on April 26th, another body was found in a nearby waterway, which was identified as Nahidul Bristy. The police arrested the main suspect, Hisham Abu Gharbia, who was also Jamil Lemon’s roommate.
