Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, has expressed deep concern and disappointment over the recent controversy surrounding the transfer of Islamabad High Court judges. He made these remarks at a Judicial Commission meeting, where he highlighted the importance of judiciary’s independence and the protection of fundamental rights.
According to sources, Justice Babar Sattar has requested Chief Justice of Pakistan to personally hear him on the transfer matter. Asad Qaiser termed the transfer of judges as a “well-planned attack on the independence of the judiciary,” which reflects a trend that is weakening the justice system. The Tehreek-e-Insaf Movement has strongly condemned this move.
In a statement, the Secretary-General of the Tehreek-e-Insaf Movement said that this move is a clear violation of the judiciary’s autonomy and is an attempt to undermine the neutrality of the judiciary, which has a direct impact on public trust. He further stated that this move will bring the judiciary to the level of the administration, where judges will be transferred like ordinary government employees.
Asad Qaiser also urged the Bar Councils and lawyers’ associations to unite and raise their voices against this move. Meanwhile, Alima Khan, the sister of Imran Khan, has demanded that he undergo a medical test and treatment while in prison.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has abolished the license requirement for solar users with a capacity of 25 kilowatts or less. Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, was recently operated on her right eye at the Al-Shifa Trust Hospital.
In other news, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has prioritized investment promotion as a key strategy for economic growth in the country. The first meeting of the Judicial Commission, chaired by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, has concluded.
The Pakistan Army’s ISPR has stated that the missile system is equipped with the latest Avionics and Navigation Technology. According to sources, Bushra Bibi underwent an operation on her right eye at the Al-Shifa Trust Hospital on April 17.

Iranian Ambassador Raza Amiri-Moghadam has praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate negotiations with the US.
