A joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town resulted in the deaths of four suspected terrorists. The operation, which involved exchanges of gunfire, led to the recovery of a kalashnikov, hand grenades, and explosives from the hideout. Two CTD officials were also injured during the operation.
According to the CTD, the identities of the deceased terrorists are Jaleel, Niaz, and Hamdan, with efforts being made to identify the fourth deceased. Some accomplices of the terrorists managed to escape, and a cordon has been put in place to apprehend them.
The explosives recovered from the hideout were defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad. The CTD has stated that the operation was carried out based on intelligence gathered during the investigation of three arrested terrorists who were found in possession of explosives.
The arrested terrorists had indicated the location of their accomplices, leading to the operation in Shah Latif Town. The CTD officials stated that the terrorists opened fire, causing injuries to the arrested terrorists as well as two police officials.
The Sindh government has signed an agreement with the US Department of Agriculture to provide free food and rations to over 200,000 students in 1,300 government primary schools across the province. The US will provide $80 million under the McGovern-Dole Program to support this initiative.
