Pakistani citizens will not be able to witness the first solar eclipse of 2026, as it will not be visible in the country. However, parts of Africa and South America will get a glimpse of the rare phenomenon, known as the Ring of Fire. The solar eclipse will also be partially visible in the mid-Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean. But only Antarctica will witness the complete Ring of Fire eclipse.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the first solar eclipse of 2026 will occur on February 17, with the partial eclipse beginning at 2:56 pm and reaching its peak at 5:12 pm. The eclipse will conclude at 7:28 pm the same day.
This year, two solar and two lunar eclipses are expected to occur in Pakistan. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership had been aware of the PTI Chairman’s eye condition since February 9. A report detailing the facilities available at Adiala Jail has been submitted to the Supreme Court by the Jail Superintendent.
