Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi Issues Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Against PTI Founder Imran Khan’s Sister
In a significant development, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, Alima Khan, for her absence from the court. The court’s decision came during the hearing of a case against Alima Khan, which was scheduled for November 26. The court’s judge, Amjad Ali Shah, expressed his dissatisfaction with Alima Khan’s absence, stating that the trial had already been delayed and there was no valid reason for her absence. The court’s remarks emphasized that the accused’s absences had caused inconvenience to the prosecution, as witnesses had been summoned 37 times.
The court has directed the SP of Rawalpindi to implement the non-bailable arrest warrant, and the case has been adjourned until tomorrow. Alima Khan had been living in Bangladesh for 40 years, separated from her family, and had been making efforts to reunite with her loved ones. Opposition leader in the Senate, Allama Raj Naseer Abbas, has called for protests to continue until there is a meeting with the government.
In other news, the Commissioner of Karachi has issued a notification regarding the prices of essential items in Ramadan. According to the notification, 120-150 grams of roti will cost between 18-21 rupees, and 500 grams of chapati will cost 14 rupees. The Sindh government has taken a significant action in the appointment of pro-vice chancellors and vice chancellors in universities. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, has expressed his concern that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is not taking any action.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser has demanded that his party chief be allowed to meet his doctor. Bilal Azhar Qadri has stated that the government wants to appease PTI, and therefore, a meeting with the lawyers was arranged. In a separate incident, two suspects have been arrested in Lahore’s Kahna area for allegedly committing gang rape on an expectant woman. The prosecutor has stated that the suspects have caused damage to public property, and a physical remand has been applied. The government has announced that there will be no change in the prices of old solar net metering consumers.
