The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the authorities to provide PTI founder Imran Khan with access to eye specialists. A two-member bench consisting of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the case. The court also directed the authorities to provide Imran Khan’s children, Qasim and Suleman, with telephone access to their father. According to a report, Imran Khan had expressed dissatisfaction with the medical facilities provided to him, seeking access to eye specialists, which was read out in the court. During the hearing, Attorney General Manseau Usman Awan stated that the government is ready to provide access to eye specialists. A notice was issued to the government to appear before the court on the next day, on the request of a meeting with PTI founder Lutfur Khosa. Chief Justice Pakistan remarked that the government is in a good mood, and it should also provide telephone access to PTI founder with his children. He added that PTI founder is currently in the state custody, and all prisoners, including him, should be provided with equal medical facilities. He emphasized that special facilities should not be given to PTI founder compared to other prisoners, and all should be treated equally. The Supreme Court ordered the formation of a team of doctors to conduct Imran Khan’s eye examination, and both actions should be taken before February 16. The health issue is the most important, and intervention is necessary. The court wants to know the government’s stance on the matter. Attorney General stated that providing medical facilities is the state’s responsibility, and if the prisoner is dissatisfied, the state will take action. Salman Safdar stated that he has written down everything he saw and interacted with in his report to the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Pakistan stated that the issue of telephone calls with children is also important, and they trust the government. The original case hearing has been reserved, and the trial court has already issued an order. Appeals are pending in the High Court. The Supreme Court praised Barrister Salman Safdar for performing his duties as Friend of the Court, saying that he has performed his duties well, and the court commends his performance. Barrister Salman Safdar stated that he received over 100 calls and messages, including from his wife, and he said that this is the court’s responsibility, and he cannot reveal it, not even to his wife. According to sources, the PTI leadership will hold a protest at the main gate of the Parliament House.
