Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the cancellation of all her pre-Poh festival events in the wake of the recent terror attack in Islamabad. In a statement, she urged the people of Lahore to celebrate the festival with a sense of responsibility and duty.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for security measures to be taken during the festival to prevent any untoward incidents. She also thanked Nawaz Sharif for bringing back happiness and peace to Punjab and Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz shared a video on social media showing the release of pigeons, a traditional activity associated with the arrival of spring. However, the Chief Minister has decided to cancel all her scheduled events for the festival.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that the attacker was a Pakistani citizen and had received training in Afghanistan. He added that the government would take strong action against those responsible for the attack.
Rescue officials reported that four fire brigade vehicles were engaged in putting out the fire at the factory where the blast occurred. The factory produced plastic items.
In a separate development, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity price by 28 rupees per unit for the month of December. The move is part of the fuel price adjustment.
Former Pakistani cricket captain Shahid Afridi expressed his concern over the ongoing terror wave in the country. He questioned how long the nation would continue to respond with mere condemnations and tweets while the situation continued to worsen.
A demonstration was held in front of the National Assembly in Islamabad to condemn the recent blast. Leaders from various Muslim organizations, including Maulana Sadique Jafari and Maulana Mobshir Hasan, participated in the protest.
The Punjab government has also canceled the cultural night music program scheduled to pay tribute to the victims of the Islamabad blast.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the attacker had detonated himself in the last row of the mosque. He assured that the government would take strong action against those responsible for the attack.
Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, expressed his concern over the ongoing terror wave in the country. He emphasized the need for unity and the elimination of differences based on color, caste, and religion.
Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, was diagnosed with a serious eye condition and underwent treatment. He was later shifted to a hospital for further treatment.
Senior Punjab Minister, Maryam Aurangzeb, emphasized the need for citizens, parents, and young people to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of others. She urged them to adhere to the law and take necessary precautions.
A special event was organized at the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna, Austria, to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event was chaired by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Austria, Kamran Akhtar Malik.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, along with Maulana Bashir Hussain Amadi, briefed the media on the incident. He revealed that the IGP’s cousin was among the victims.
Government sources confirmed that the attacker had received training in Afghanistan and had traveled to the country multiple times.
A panel discussion was held at the Norwegian Embassy in Oslo to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event was chaired by Norway’s former Deputy Speaker, Akhtar Chaudhry.
