Sindh’s Inspector General, Javed Alam Odho, has stated that the Honeymoon Trap tactic was used to deceive people, leading them to crime-ridden areas where they were kidnapped and taken away. He has vowed to restore the state writ in these areas. During a press conference, he said that the money from the ransom was used to purchase arms, and the police’s negligence allowed the dacoits to settle in these areas. The series of crimes became systematic, and the dacoits had better arms than the police. Despite this, the police made significant efforts, and today, they are killing dacoits and resolving cases.
Odho claimed that the crime rate has decreased, and the police have been able to control crimes in Karachi. There were 11 No-Go Areas in the city, which have been eliminated. Unfortunately, over the past few years, the police and state writ have weakened in the Katchi areas. In the past, there was a time when 100 dacoits were present in the Katchi area. Due to greed, the practice of kidnapping for ransom became more entrenched in Katchi, and the dacoits amassed modern and deadly arms.
Since the past night, I have been in Islamabad, and I will return to see what has happened. Inspector General Javed Alam Odho stated that the Katchi region was a major problem, and kidnapping for ransom cases increased. People were lured by cheap items or by women’s voices and then kidnapped. People from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Punjab were also lured and kidnapped, and government lands were seized and used.
After becoming IG, Odho vowed to eliminate the dacoits’ occupation of the Katchi areas. He stated that the Sindh Police was a top-notch force, and he had the support of the Chief Minister and the cabinet.
