Gaza/Istanbul โ The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has put forward a significant conditional offer, stating that it is prepared to hand over all its weapons to the Palestinian Authority (PA) if Israel fully ends its occupation of the Palestinian territories.
In an interview with Turkish media, Hamas senior leader Khalil al-Hayya clarified that the organization’s weapons are intrinsically linked to defending against aggression. He stated: “If the Israeli occupation ends, these weapons will be handed over to the state.” This declaration raises questions about the resistance movement’s long-term strategy and its future political role.
Regarding international monitoring, Khalil al-Hayya mentioned that Hamas would accept the deployment of UN forces, provided their role is that of a separation force monitoring the borders and ensuring adherence to the ceasefire in Gaza.
However, he drew a firm line, stating that they reject the deployment of any international force in Gaza whose primary objective would be to disarm Hamas.
Meanwhile, ground realities remain extremely grim. Despite ceasefire agreements, the Israeli army continues its bombardment in Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of dozens of Palestinians. Reports also indicate the killing of more Palestinians in the West Bank due to Israeli assaults, further escalating the humanitarian crisis and tension in the region.
