A senior official from the Palestinian resistance organization, Hamas, has signaled a major shift in the organization’s political stance regarding the future of the Gaza Strip. The official announced that Hamas does not intend to govern Gaza in the post-conflict era and instead supports the establishment of a neutral, technocratic administration.
Speaking to an Arab news agency, the Hamas official confirmed that the organization has already reached a consensus on the names for the proposed non-partisan administrative body that would be responsible for overseeing Gaza’s affairs.
However, the official stated that the path to implementing this political setup is currently facing resistance, alleging that Israel is actively placing hurdles to impede the formation of the proposed administration.
Furthermore, the Hamas official clarified the group’s terms regarding external security: the role of any international force deployed must be strictly limited to monitoring the ceasefire agreement. They stressed that such a force should not be allowed to take on any role in the governance or administration of the Gaza Strip.
