In a significant development, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has apprehended the individual suspected of planting explosive devices in Washington D.C. on the eve of the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. This arrest is being hailed as a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into one of the most politically sensitive security breaches in American history.
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the arrest, identifying the suspect as 30-year-old Bryan Koal Jr., who resides with his parents in Woodbridge, Virginia. Authorities had previously released CCTV footage from January 5, showing the suspect placing the improvised explosive devices outside the headquarters of both the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Republican National Committee (RNC).
It is recalled that authorities had offered a substantial reward of $500,000 for information leading to the identification and capture of the suspect. Crucially, security teams successfully neutralized both devices before the assault on the Capitol commenced. This capture is expected to help law enforcement agencies uncover the broader network and motives behind the attempted bombings that coincided with the political unrest.
