The US State Department has issued a high-alert Level 4 Travel Advisory, imploring all American citizens currently in Venezuela to leave the country immediately. Citing severe safety and security concerns, the advisory strongly recommends that all US citizens and legal permanent residents depart Venezuela without delay, while advising against any future travel to the South American nation.
This Level 4 advisory, which was originally issued in May, has been re-released without modification following a comprehensive review of the ongoing situation. The State Department highlighted the extreme risks present in the country.
The advisory specifically warns US citizens about numerous grave dangers, including the threat of wrongful detention, civil unrest, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, widespread violent crime, and the catastrophic collapse of Venezuela’s healthcare system. This urgent and stern warning underscores Washington’s profound concerns regarding the safety of its nationals and further accentuates the diplomatic strain between the two nations.
