A major security operation has been launched in Derby, UK, following a controlled explosion carried out by security forces. The operation led to the detention of two individuals suspected of possessing explosive materials. The incident triggered a wave of fear among residents, prompting the police to evacuate approximately 200 homes as a precautionary measure against any potential danger.
According to British media reports, the two suspects, described as men in their 40s and 50s, were arrested on Vulcan Street shortly after the controlled blast. Both individuals are reported to be Polish nationals. These arrests underscore heightened security concerns in the region.
Superintendent Rebecca Webster confirmed that police and intelligence agencies are actively working to determine the exact nature and motive behind the incident. While the area has been deemed “safe” for the community following the thorough search, residents have been advised to remain away from their homes for an additional twenty-four hours as a precaution. Superintendent Webster also mentioned that police have seized a white van, which is crucial for assessing the nature of the explosive materials involved in the controlled detonation.
