Istanbul, Turkey: A catastrophic fire at a perfume warehouse in the industrial city of Dilovası, Turkey, has resulted in a devastating human toll, with at least 6 people killed and 5 others injured. The tragedy has intensified concerns over safety standards and worker protection within the country’s vast industrial sector.
According to Turkish media, the blaze started around 9:00 AM on Saturday. Due to the flammable materials stored within the perfume warehouse, the fire quickly consumed two floors of the building. Firefighting, rescue teams, and municipal personnel rushed to the scene and managed to bring the inferno under control after many hours of relentless struggle.
Ilhami Aktaş, the Governor of Kocaeli Province, confirmed the unfortunate loss of six civilian lives. He added that of the five people injured, one remains in a critical condition, while the other four were transported to nearby hospitals and are reported to be stable.
Footage aired by Turkish broadcaster ‘NTV’ showed that the warehouse building has been almost entirely destroyed. An eyewitness reported hearing a loud explosion just before the area was engulfed in flames. Authorities have promptly launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Dilovası, located about 70 kilometers from Istanbul, is a major industrial hub housing dozens of factories and warehouses.
