President Donald Trump has once again made a controversial and unverified claim regarding the brief military escalation between Pakistan and India, revising the number of aircraft downed during the hostilities to eight.
Speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami, Trump stated that he had read newspaper reports suggesting “seven or eight planes were shot down.” Criticizing the media, he asserted, “But in reality, 8 planes were shot down during the India-Pakistan conflict.”
Trump reiterated his long-standing claim that it was his intervention that halted a potential war between the two nuclear-armed nations, attributing the ceasefire to his trade policies and tariffs. He maintained that he had warned both countries that the US would not proceed with any trade deals until they agreed to peace.
Comments on New York’s Socialist Mayor-elect
Furthermore, Trump commented on the recent election of Zohran Mamdani, the new Democratic Socialist Mayor of New York. Trump criticized the voters of New York, claiming they had lost America’s “sovereignty” by electing a left-wing leader.
In a sarcastic tone, he remarked that “a communist has become the mayor of America’s biggest city,” adding that he would monitor Mamdani’s performance in New York and stated, “We will help him a little.”
