Pakistan’s Standing Committee on Defence has instructed officials from the national airline to appear at its next meeting to explain the status of its grounded aircraft and operational issues.
This directive was issued during a committee meeting held at the Airport Authority Headquarters in Karachi. During the session, the committee expressed satisfaction with the resumption of flights to the United Kingdom. However, members also proposed that direct flights to the UK should be initiated from Karachi as well.
The committee also focused on domestic operations, stressing the need to increase the number of flights at Sukkur Airport. They further directed the airline to resume operations at Dera Ghazi Khan and other currently non-operational airports.
According to sources, a proposal for funds to install new scanners at various airports was also discussed. The committee specifically questioned authorities about the restoration of grounded planes, which prompted the decision to summon the airline’s leadership for a detailed briefing in the next session.
