Karachi: Pakistan’s poultry industry has achieved a significant milestone, recording a major surge in egg exports. In a historic and unprecedented development, this expansion now includes exports to the United States for the first time.
According to the Department of Animal Quarantine, total egg exports to the US market have already reached $2.37 million, marking a major success in the current fiscal year.
This new market joins Pakistan’s traditional list of export destinations, which includes the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Qatar, Somalia, and Afghanistan.
Data for the 2024-25 fiscal year shows strong performance in established markets, with exports valued at $3.2 million to Bahrain, $3.1 million to Kuwait, $1.72 million to the UAE, and $1.07 million to Afghanistan.
Furthermore, Pakistan is also generating revenue by exporting eggs in liquid form. This fiscal year, 1,169 metric tons of liquid eggs, valued at $2.61 million, were exported. These liquid products are primarily supplied to Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
