US President Donald Trump revealed he delivered a clear message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding tensions in South Asia, warning him that “there should be no war with Pakistan.”
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump confirmed he spoke with Modi by phone on the occasion of Diwali. He stated that the call covered trade as well as several other key issues.
“I had a detailed discussion with the Indian Prime Minister a short while ago,” Trump said, adding that he is “solving issues through trade.”
During his remarks, the president also touched on other economic themes. He referenced high tariffs imposed by China and European nations over the years and called customs duties a critical tool for protecting US national security.
Furthermore, the US President also stated that as a result of their discussions, India will not be purchasing more oil from Russia.
