Peshawar —
Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) have launched a series of arrests following a surge in vulgar and explicit content being shared on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and live chat apps.
Police reports suggest that fake accounts operated by individuals aged between 14 and 30 — including men, women, and transgender persons — are producing and sharing obscene videos in Pashto, targeting and misleading the younger generation.
In one case, a TikToker named Abdul Moeiz from Swabi was arrested for impersonating a woman online to gain followers through indecent videos.
Meanwhile, in Peshawar, a mother-daughter duo known as “Alishah 007” was detained for allegedly producing and distributing explicit TikTok videos.
SSP Operations Peshawar, Masood Ahmed Bangash, stated,
“Over 7,000 cases have been registered this year against social media offenses, illegal weapon displays, and street crimes. The police are implementing a zero-tolerance policy against online immorality.”
The cybercrime wing has initiated digital tracing operations to identify fake accounts involved in spreading pornographic content and immoral trends among young users.
Sociologists have raised concerns that such content is corroding cultural and family values, urging the government to introduce digital literacy campaigns to educate youth about the consequences of online exploitation and moral decline.
