Doha —
Making their debut appearance in the Asia Padel Cup, Pakistan’s national padel team has made history by qualifying for the main round after a string of impressive performances in the qualifying stage held in Doha, Qatar.
Comprising mostly first-time international players, the young Pakistani side displayed exceptional teamwork, composure, and technical skill to secure consecutive victories.
Pakistan first defeated China and then clinched another emphatic win against Thailand to book their spot in the main round.
In the tie against Thailand, the duo of Mohammad Salar and Abdullah Adnan dominated their opponents with straight-set wins of 6-2, 6-3. Later, Mohammad Kamil and Ashish Kumar sealed the team’s overall victory by prevailing 6-2, 7-5 in a closely contested match.
Officials from the Pakistan Padel Federation hailed the achievement as a landmark moment for the country’s sports.
“This victory reflects the hard work, dedication, and passion of our young athletes,” a federation spokesperson said. “We’re confident the team will continue this momentum in the main round.”
Pakistan’s journey in the Asia Padel Cup has just begun — but it already signals a promising future for the emerging sport in the country.
