KARACHI, PAKISTAN – A second case of mpox (Monkeypox) has been confirmed in Sindh, health officials announced on Thursday, raising public health concerns in the province.
The patient, a 28-year-old male, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Symptoms of the disease first appeared on September 15.
According to the Sindh Health Department, the patient exhibits visible sores and rashes on the body, face, and throat. Officials confirmed that the individual had a recent travel history to Dubai.
A sample from the patient has been sent for laboratory testing to confirm the diagnosis. As a precautionary measure, all close contacts of the patient have been placed under observation.
