In a significant move, U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration intends to ask a court to allow the release of grand jury testimony in the case of deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This decision comes as some of his supporters reacted with anger to a recent report that found no evidence to support long-standing conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein’s case.
President Trump announced this intention on his Truth Social platform on July 18, 2025, stating, “Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!”
Shortly after Trump’s social media post, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed on X that the Justice Department is prepared to petition the court on Friday to unseal the grand jury transcripts. “President Trump – we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts,” Bondi wrote.
Background and Public Speculation
The demand for more information on Epstein from some of Trump’s supporters follows a Justice Department conclusion earlier this month that there was no evidence to corroborate various long-held conspiracy theories regarding Epstein’s clients and his 2019 death in prison.
Attorney General Bondi had previously committed months ago to revealing significant details about Epstein, including “a lot of names” and “a lot of flight logs.” The ongoing calls from some of Trump’s base for further disclosures on Epstein have created a rare division within his support, with Trump himself dismissing the matter as a “hoax.”
Epstein’s history of sexually abusing girls first became public in 2006, leading to his arrest and a subsequent plea deal. He died in jail in 2019 after being arrested a second time and charged with sex-trafficking conspiracy.
