The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has commenced a thorough operation against Indian bots and fraudulent social media accounts actively conducting anti-Pakistan campaigns against the backdrop of increasing tensions between the two nations.
According to sources, Pakistani regulatory bodies have identified numerous suspicious social media accounts engaged in disseminating anti-Pakistan propaganda. The PTA has implemented continuous monitoring of social media platforms to counteract these hostile activities.
“To date, 46 suspicious URLs have been reported to the relevant social media platforms for blocking,” a PTA official confirmed. The authority emphasized that addressing Indian-sponsored bots and fake social media accounts is an ongoing endeavor that necessitates constant vigilance.
Sources within the PTA disclosed that all pertinent Pakistani institutions, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, have been mobilized to counter this coordinated disinformation campaign. Officials assured that any account discovered to be involved in anti-Pakistan activities will be promptly reported to the respective platform for appropriate action.
When questioned about the specific accounts included within these URLs, authorities clarified that they have targeted numerous profiles that were clearly part of an orchestrated effort to spread negative narratives against Pakistan following recent diplomatic strains between the neighbouring countries.
The PTA has urged the public to remain alert to misleading information and report any suspicious content to the relevant authorities.
