The differing paths of King Charles and Prince Harry have been brought into sharp focus during the Duke of Sussex’s recent trip to the United Kingdom.
Prince Harry was unable to meet with his father once again during his London visit this week, due to King Charles’s scheduled state visit to Italy.
Commenting on this poignant situation, royal expert Russell Myers told the Mirror: “Alongside the Queen, they have genuinely appeared to be enjoying themselves immensely this week. It’s not a coincidence that Camilla informed reporters traveling with them in Italy yesterday that the secret to their marriage is ‘laughing at the same things.’ I’ve always believed that a sense of humor about the often bizarre experience of being moved from one location to another during these trips is the best way to manage the chaos!”
He further added: “Contrast this with the persistent hyperbolic language employed by Prince Harry through his legal team at the Court of Appeal in recent days, as he continues his battle for taxpayer-funded security. For better or worse, Harry made the decision to step down from his role within the royal family in pursuit of a better life for his family in the United States.”
Regarding the Duke, Myers noted: “Harry has not seen his father for 14 months, despite making numerous trips to the UK, and has declined offers of accommodation in a royal residence where he might have had the opportunity to meet with his ailing father, presumably because it would jeopardize his chances of winning a legal case that has cost an estimated £1.5 million to pursue.”
“The disparity between these two worlds is striking. It’s almost unbelievable how far Harry has fallen from being consistently the most popular member of the royal family, adored by everyone from pub-goers and his fellow troops to grandmothers. While no one should be denied the right to fight for their beliefs, especially concerning family safety and security, surely Harry must realize by now that his pattern of resistance against his family, the government, or anyone who has provoked him that week is an exhausting endeavor,” he concluded.
