Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, made his acting debut last year with Yash Raj Films’ “Maharaj”. Recently, the young actor opened up about missing out on roles in his father’s production films, “Laapataa Ladies” and “Laal Singh Chaddha”, before making his actual debut.
In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Junaid Khan revealed that he was initially supposed to be a part of his father Aamir Khan-led film, “Laal Singh Chaddha”. He shared that he tested for the role alongside Kiran Rao, who was set to play his mother. Junaid mentioned that they shot 7-8 scenes over four days, resulting in 20 minutes of footage.
He said, “It was a test for me as well. Papa wanted to see how Advait would handle the material. So, it was kind of a deal for both of us. Ultimately, it didn’t work out, largely due to budgetary reasons. It was a very expensive film to put a new person in.”
Junaid further shared that he also auditioned for the film “Laapataa Ladies”, but Kiran Rao ultimately chose Sparsh Shrivastava, whom she felt was a better fit for the role. Junaid expressed no disappointment over the decision and agreed with her choice.
He emphasized that his relationship with Kiran remained unaffected. He stated, “Our equation is very good. She is a very fun and warm person, and we get along really well.”
Meanwhile, Junaid Khan will next be seen in the rom-com “Loveyapa” alongside Khushi Kapoor. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is set to release on February 7, 2025.
