The Karachi Traffic Police has released a comprehensive traffic plan for New Year celebrations.
In light of Section 144, which will be in effect from December 31 to January 1, 2025, these measures aim to maintain law and order.
The traffic advisory emphasized carrying original identification documents, as vehicles will proceed only after verification.
Key Routes:
- Korangi: Korangi Road, Sunset Boulevard, Ghazri Bridge, Saudi Signal, Khayaban-e-Shamshir, McDonald’s Sea View Road.
- North Nazimabad, Gulbarg, Liaquatabad, Gulshan Iqbal, New Karachi: MA Jinnah Road, Garden Road, Zeb-ul-Nasa Road, Awari Light Signal, Sindh Club Chowk, Tin Talwar, McDonald’s Sea View Road.
- Gadap, Bin Qasim, Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Jamshed Road, Saddar: Shara Faisal, Sindh Club Chowk, Tin Talwar, Race Course Signal, Chaudhry Khaliq-ul-Zaman Road, Ghazri Pul, Khayaban Shamshir, McDonald’s Sea View.
- Jinnah Bridge Open: Traffic from Boat Basin, Bilawal House Chowrangi, and Marine Road (Hyperstar) to McDonald’s Sea View via Mai Kolachi.
Road Closures:
- PIDC Chowk (Ziauddin Road) to Ziauddin Bridge Lucky Signal.
- PIDC Chowk to Club Road.
- Bilawal Chowrangi to Bahria Underpass.
- 26th Street from Abdullah Shah Ghazi Mausoleum.
Heavy Traffic Restrictions: Tankers, dumpers, and trucks prohibited from Mai Kolachi; redirected via River Road or Shara Pakistan.
Parking Restrictions: No parking allowed on Shara Faisal, Abdullah Haroon Road, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Korangi Road, and MT Khan Road.
Strict Action on Reckless Driving: Vehicles without silencers and reckless driving will result in legal action.
Aerial Firing Warning: Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odhu has warned against aerial firing, threatening violators with attempted murder charges.
