Champion of Peace and Human Rights
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, renowned for redefining the post-presidency role, passed away at the age of 100. His son, Chip Carter, confirmed that he died peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia.
Carter, who lived longer than any other U.S. president, entered hospice care in February 2023.
Carter’s presidency was marked by notable achievements, including brokering peace between Israel and Egypt through the Camp David Accords. However, his tenure was overshadowed by domestic and international challenges, including the Iranian hostage crisis.
After leaving the White House, Carter dedicated his life to humanitarian causes through Habitat for Humanity and the Carter Center, earning global recognition and the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.
He is survived by his children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, peace, and resilience.
