Prince Harry, estranged from the royal family, may cause issues for his father, King Charles, due to his ongoing legal battles.
The Duke of Sussex is expected to return to the UK in 2025 for the trial against Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (NGN). The case involves allegations of unlawful information gathering between 1996 and 2011.
Harry’s lawyer, David Sherborne, confirmed that the trial, which also includes former Labour MP Tom Watson, is scheduled for January 2025.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has warned that the trial could be as dramatic as Harry’s previous court appearances.
“If Harry says something in court about what the King allegedly told him, it could cause absolute chaos,” Fitzwilliams stated.
He further noted that ongoing nervousness surrounds what Harry might reveal during cross-examinations, which could involve sensitive information about the monarchy.
It’s pertinent to note that Prince Harry visited the UK four times this year. His last visit was in August for his uncle Lord Robert Fellows’ funeral. His first visit in March followed news of his father’s cancer diagnosis.
