Islamabad: The federal government has announced a crackdown on terrorist groups’ social media accounts in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). This decision was taken during a National Action Plan Coordination Committee meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting emphasized coordination between NACTA and provincial authorities to strengthen counter-terrorism measures. The minister directed agencies to halt proscribed organizations’ online activities and enforce restrictions effectively.
He stressed the need to combat unauthorized SIM usage and equip law enforcement agencies with advanced tools. Intelligence operations have eliminated 206 terrorists so far this year.
A National Fusion Centre has been established to ensure seamless inter-agency coordination. Additionally, a 10-member task force has been formed to identify perpetrators of anti-state propaganda.
The FIA Cybercrime Wing has identified 924 accounts spreading anti-state content, with 312 accounts already blocked and actions underway for others
