Moscow: Russia has strongly condemned the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, warning of dramatic consequences for Lebanon and the entire Middle East.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry referred to the Israeli attack that resulted in the martyrdom of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as another instance of political assassination by Israel.
The ministry stated that this Israeli action could lead to a new wave of violence in Lebanon and throughout the Middle East, urging the international community to do everything possible to prevent the region from spiraling into a full-scale war.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday, expressing concern over the Israeli attack in Beirut and the death of Nasrallah. He noted that such “political assassinations” have become commonplace.
Lavrov also condemned Israel’s devastating actions in Gaza, stating that the events of October 7 are being used to impose collective punishment on Palestinians, and called for an immediate end to the massacre of Palestinian civilians with American weapons.
