Beirut: The body of Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, was discovered in the rubble of a devastated building 24 hours after he was martyred in an Israeli attack.
According to international news agency Reuters, a medical official confirmed under the condition of anonymity that Nasrallah’s remains were recovered from the debris. Remarkably, despite the intense bombardment, there were no significant wounds visible on his body, suggesting that he may have succumbed to the blast’s intensity.
His body has since been transferred to a hospital; however, Hezbollah has not yet released any statements regarding the recovery of his remains or his funeral arrangements.
Local media have reported that following the discovery of Nasrallah’s body, the leadership has made decisions regarding his funeral, which will be announced soon.
Yesterday, Hezbollah confirmed in a statement that Hassan Nasrallah had been martyred, but they did not disclose the details of how or where his martyrdom occurred.
On the other hand, Israel claimed that Hassan Nasrallah was targeted in Hezbollah’s underground headquarters using bunker buster bombs, which also resulted in the death of his key associate, Commander Ali Karak.
In the meantime, Hezbollah has temporarily appointed Naeem Qasim as its interim leader.
