Mumbai: Renowned Indian singer Asha Bhosle has expressed concern over the increasing trend of divorces among young couples.
In a conversation with spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the 91-year-old singer remarked that love seems to fade quickly between young couples nowadays, and they easily get bored of each other.
Reflecting on her personal life, Asha Bhosle shared how, despite facing challenges in her marriage with legendary music composer R.D. Burman, she would return to him after spending just a few days at her mother’s home and never considered divorce as an option.
Asha Bhosle asked Ravi Shankar why divorce papers are being sent out so frequently these days. Ravi Shankar responded, attributing it to a lack of tolerance and the modern tendency to prioritize attraction over love.
Asha Bhosle added that she has seen many people in the film industry but never witnessed such intense rates of divorce before. She believes that love today dissipates too quickly, leading people to get bored with each other—likely one of the major reasons behind the rise in divorces.
