Madrid: Two women were swindled out of €325,000 by scammers pretending to be Hollywood star Brad Pitt.
According to foreign media reports, Spanish police have arrested a group of five individuals involved in an online fraud scheme. The group created a fake social media account, impersonating the Oscar-winning actor, and targeted Brad Pitt’s fans.
The scammers built relationships with the women and convinced them to invest in various fake projects. As a result, a woman from Spain lost €175,000, while another woman from Northern Basque was tricked out of €150,000.
Spanish police have so far recovered €85,000, and investigations are still ongoing to recover the remaining funds.
