In the Champions One-Day Cup Qualifier match, Saim Ayub handed his Man of the Match award to fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain in a heartwarming gesture.
In the first qualifier held in Faisalabad yesterday, the Panthers defeated the Markhors by seven wickets to secure their spot in the Champions One-Day Cup final. Saim Ayub’s brilliant bowling performance saw him take 5 wickets, dismantling the Markhors’ batting lineup, while Mohammad Hasnain claimed 3 wickets.
Markhors won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision that backfired as they lost their first four wickets for just 25 runs. The team was bowled out for a mere 137 runs.
The Panthers chased down the target with ease, securing victory in just 24 overs for the loss of 3 wickets, booking their place in the final.
Despite being named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, Saim Ayub passed his award to his teammate Mohammad Hasnain. He praised Hasnain’s efforts, saying, “I believe this award belongs to Hasnain. His early breakthroughs with the new ball set the foundation for our win, which helped me get wickets as well.”
Now, in the upcoming Eliminator 1 on Wednesday, Stallions will face Lions, and the winner of that match will go on to play against the Markhors in Eliminator 2.
