Karachi: A two-member investigative committee from the Department of Culture has submitted a detailed report to the Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, regarding the paintings of artist Saifi Somroo.
The committee, consisting of Director General of Culture Manwar Mahesar and Director General of Archaeology and Antiquities Abdul Fattah Sheikh, was tasked with compiling the report after a thorough review with the administration of Frere Hall.
According to the report, the paintings at Frere Hall have been there since 2017 and have not gone missing. These paintings are part of a drama shoot, as the drama was filmed at Frere Hall.
Further investigation revealed that the paintings have been moved from one location to another during various exhibitions, which led to misunderstandings.
The report also states that artist Saifi Somroo has shown no interest in retrieving his paintings, which remain at Frere Hall.
