HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A driver accused of hitting and killing a 10-year-old boy on the Fourth of July has been taken into custody.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced Saturday morning that 36-year-old Alex Tuan Vuong was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid related to the crash. Vuong is currently held in the Harris County jail.
Investigators report that the victim, Mohammad Khel, was riding his bicycle just a few doors down from his home in the Grand Oaks subdivision of West Harris County when he was struck by a dark SUV that ran a stop sign. The vehicle continued for nearly a mile with the boy’s bike wedged underneath. The driver then stopped at Greenhouse and Kieth Harrow to remove the bike.
