In northwest Houston, a renter reached out to Action 13’s Renters’ Rights with concerns about management’s neglect regarding two potentially hazardous trees on the property.
Colleen Borum, the renter, expressed her worry that the trees posed a threat to her mobile home, which she owns but rents the lot for. Despite numerous attempts to address the issue with Northwest Pines management through phone calls, emails, and even a registered letter, no action was taken.
Borum and her son have been living in fear for nearly a year due to the condition of the trees. One tree was dead, while the other leaned dangerously over their home, prompting concerns for their safety and the potential loss of their home.
Despite receiving assurances from management that trimming the trees was on their agenda, Borum and her son remained anxious, feeling that their concerns were not being taken seriously.
Following Eyewitness News’ intervention on their behalf, management finally arranged for the removal of the two trees four days later, providing a significant sense of relief to Borum and her son.
Their primary desire was simply to live peacefully without the looming threat of falling trees jeopardizing their safety and home.
