HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The sunny and mild weather sticks around for the brand new work week, where morning low temperatures could even fall into the 40s for the first time since spring!
After a breezy and beautiful weekend, these gusty northerly winds will die down overnight but the cooler temperatures will stay put. Monday morning temperatures will start in the low 50s for most, could be the upper 40s though for areas north of Houston. Then everyone warms up to the low 70s with lots of sunshine for Monday. this is surface high pressure slides into the region and controls the forecast through Tuesday. So expect more of the same the following day.
How long does this cooler weather stick around for?
We’re expecting these below average temperatures to last through Tuesday night. After that winds begin to shift back out of the south on Wednesday and temperatures will rebound back to their seasonal range, which is morning lows in the low 60s and afternoon highs in the low 80s.
When could we get more rain?
Our next opportunity for rain won’t occur until late next week when our next weather system rolls through Texas. That will likely arrive Thursday, though rain chances at the moment do not look particularly widespread.
What is happening in the tropics?
Based on the projected steering currents over the Gulf, we are likely in the clear from any direct hits for the rest of hurricane season. That said, we’re entering the time of year when we have to pay closer attention to what’s happening in the Pacific since those storms can recurve into Mexico and send heavy rains to Texas.
