HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The gentle, soaking rain showers are gone, and the clouds have cleared out as tropical moisture moves away from the Texas coast.
By sunrise, temperature across most of Southeast Texas will dip into the upper 50s, but if you do sport a jacket out the door, you won’t need it for long! An abundance of sunshine will warm temperatures into the mid 80s during the afternoon.
Friday will get even warmer with some local thermometers possibly topping 90, but our next front should arrive late Friday night or early Saturday morning, setting us up for another perfect weekend!
How cool will it get behind the front?
We expect highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s Sunday through Tuesday. Enjoy!
What kind of weather should we expect for the solar eclipse on Saturday?
It should be perfect eclipse-viewing weather! The sky will be clear with temperatures in the 70s. Just make sure you have special solar glasses or solar filters on any viewing devices before you look up.
When could we get more rain?
Our next opportunity for rain won’t occur until late next week when our next weather system rolls through Texas. The timing is still hard to pin down, but at this time it looks like a toss-up between Thursday and Friday.
What is happening in the tropics?
Based on the projected steering currents over the Gulf, we are likely in the clear from any direct hits for the rest of hurricane season. That said, we’re entering the time of year when we have to pay closer attention to what’s happening in the Pacific since those storms can recurve into Mexico and send heavy rains to Texas.
