HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston police say they believe speed may have played a factor in a crash that killed a bicyclist in southwest Houston.
Witnesses say they saw a wrecker driver speeding at about 9 p.m. on Beechnut near Braewick before crashing into a man on his bike.
“Everyone on this street speeds a lot. I’ve got my family, and it’s not good. I may have to move because everybody is speeding, mainly the tow trucks,” Javier Melendez said.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The tow truck driver remained at the scene.
There is no word yet on possible charges.
