HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It was a gorgeous Sunday but moisture will start moving back in overnight bringing back the clouds and a chance of rain.
We should start to see some rain popping up in our western counties near Matagorda Bay Monday morning. This rain will spread east during the day. Monday will transition to periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms during the afternoon and last through early evening. A few of these storms will be on the strong side and could even be severe, but the threat for severe storms will be low.
Behind the storms, another shot of cold air will spread across the region. You’ll want to have your jackets and coats ready to wear this week.
Will the cold air stick around?
Yes, all this week! Another cold front will blow in on Monday, and this one will likely bring another round of showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe. Behind this front, even colder air will pour in, keeping highs in the 50s and pushing lows into the 30s by the end of the week. It’s even possible for the freeze line to make an early appearance in Southeast Texas.
