HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Summer has arrived a few weeks ahead of schedule and it shows no signs of letting up this week.
Temperatures Tuesday morning will again remain well above average with lows closer to 80 than the average low of 66. A low in the upper 70s at this time of year is in record territory for the warmest low temperatures. After the morning clouds thin out, sunshine will warm temperatures back into the low 90s challenging the record high of 94 from 1927.
You’ll want to take the necessary precautions with this early-season heat and keep an eye on your loved ones and pets.
Which day will be the hottest this week?
Thursday looks to bring our hottest weather, partially because a batch of drier air will blow in with more sunshine. Dry air heats up quicker than humid air, and we predict our high to hit a record-breaking 95-degrees. The current record for Thursday is 92-degrees set in 1967.
When we could get more rain?
Our next chance of rain comes this weekend as a weak front pushes towards Southeast Texas. Deeper moisture coming in from Louisiana will get stirred up by this front and bring us a 20% hope for a shower Saturday through Monday.
What else can we expect for the weekend?
To put it simply, more near record heat. Lows will drop into the mid 70s while highs hold steady in the low 90s.
