ISLAMABAD: The Cloud First Policy, which was approved by the government in mid of February, is likely to accelerate digital transformation in public sector organisations across the country, as it will create a common and collective cloud platform.
The government-owned cloud infrastructure will help all public sector organisations to avail the cloud services at a fraction of the cost of operating their own data centres, said Oracle’s Senior Director and Head Cloud Platform Group in Pakistan and Afghanistan Amer Khan while talking to the media on Wednesday.
This will help public sector institutions to invest more time and money in improving service delivery.
Mr Khan said the Cloud First Policy would motivate public sector entities, regulated sectors, and private sector organisations in Pakistan to move to the cloud while providing them with the means to comply with the regulations that require them to keep their data secured.
He said this would significantly increase the utilization of the system by improving its availability and performance, at a reduced cost. Subsequently, this would allow the government to direct the maximum amount of funding and resources towards other sectors such as for provision of quality and free-of-cost emergency healthcare to every child in Pakistan.
Since the start of its operations in Pakistan in 1997, Oracle has been helping Pakistani businesses, government departments, civil society organizations and educational institutions develop and grow.
