Bollywood Superstar Aamir Khan recently opened up about the unconventional approach he took in his career, deciding to sign two films without reading their scripts. The Mr. Perfectionist of the film industry is known for carefully selecting scripts and stories, but there were instances in his early days where he made impromptu decisions. In a recent interview, 61-year-old Aamir revealed that he only signed two films in his career without reading the script. These films were “Awwal Number” and “Tum Mere Ho,” both of which were suggested by his father, Tahir Hussain.
When asked about his approach to choosing scripts, Aamir said that he always makes decisions with his heart and not by strategy. He believes that when he chooses a film, his heart should be in it, whether he is acting or producing. Aamir mentioned that when he hears a story, he thinks like an ordinary movie-goer. If the story impresses him, makes him excited, and leaves a lasting impact, then he decides to be a part of it.
Aamir revealed that his father had already signed him up for “Awwal Number” and had spoken to the director, Dev Anand, to arrange a meeting. However, Aamir’s father told him not to read the script and instead, simply agree to the film. Aamir was hesitant, but he eventually agreed due to his fear of his father. He had no idea what the story was about. On the other hand, “Tum Mere Ho” was a film that his father wrote himself. Aamir’s father had jokingly told him that he had been working in the film industry for 30 years and that he, Aamir, was still asking for the story.
Aamir mentioned that apart from these two instances, he has always trusted his natural instincts and feelings. He cited the example of his film “Taare Zameen Par,” which many people questioned due to its unconventional storyline. However, Aamir was convinced by the story and went ahead with it, which eventually became one of his most successful films.
