Iran has launched a massive operation in its western regions, resulting in the arrest of over 240 individuals, according to the semi-official news agency. The operation, carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has also led to the confiscation of more than 100 explosive devices.
According to the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, the IRGC operations took place in two provinces, with the majority of the arrests occurring in the Kurdistan province. The ministry claimed that 11 individuals were arrested during the operations in Kurdistan, while one member of the Kurdish armed group was killed. Iran also executed an agent working for Israel.
The Iranian authorities stated that a large stash of arms and ammunition was discovered during the operations. In a separate raid, around 70 individuals were arrested in Kurdistan, allegedly involved in bomb-making and arms smuggling activities.
The media reported that a large-scale operation was also carried out in the Kermanshah province, resulting in the arrest of 155 individuals. The arrested individuals were reportedly affiliated with anti-revolutionary groups, including four Israeli Mossad agents.
In a separate incident, the police in Tehran announced the arrest of an individual accused of gathering information about missile attack locations to pass it on to hostile networks. An academic and a fellow student were also detained for questioning in connection with the incident.
The British media reported that a bomb-laden vehicle, which was seized by the authorities last week, exploded near a police station, killing at least 10 active-duty soldiers since the beginning of the year, with six reported deaths in April. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to visit Pakistan after his trip to Oman.
The visit comes as the global community is grappling with the implications of the recent Washington shooting incident, which has affected Britain’s King Charles III’s planned trip to the United States. Israel has appointed its first ambassador to the self-declared state of Somaliland, which declared its independence from Somalia last month.

In a separate incident, a former employee of the Camonian armed forces in Mali was arrested in connection with the human trafficking of 16 Pakistani nationals who were killed in a shipwreck in Libya. The UN has warned of the risk of human catastrophe due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, the Indian state of Punjab’s Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, said that the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gaining momentum.
