Pakistani singer Gohar Mumtaz has made a revelation that Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt had expressed his desire to use the popular song “Addat” from his band in one of his films. However, the song was later included in Meheesh Bhatt’s film. In an interview, Gohar Mumtaz shared that when he was 19 years old, he received a call from Sanjay Dutt’s team while he was in Mumbai with his band to launch their new album. He said that his manager told him that Sanjay Dutt wanted to use their song “Addat” in his film, which left them all amazed because it was an unimaginable thing for them. However, the song was later included in Meheesh Bhatt’s film.
Gohar Mumtaz also revealed that he had met Sanjay Dutt on one occasion in Mumbai, where he asked him how he first heard the song. Sanjay Dutt replied that a Pakistani woman had come to him with a CD and asked him to listen to the song. Gohar Mumtaz also sang the popular song “Ab To Addat Hai” during the event, which earned him applause from the audience. Sanjay Dutt also told him that he used to listen to their song “Addat” in his car and that Salmankhan, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff were also fans of the song.
Gohar Mumtaz also shed light on the fact that in those days, Pakistani artists did not get recognition in their own country unless they achieved success in Bollywood. Although their songs were already popular in Pakistan, they did not get the same recognition as they did in Bollywood. He also conveyed a message to new artists saying that times have changed, and with the help of social media platforms like YouTube, songs can become hits in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh simultaneously.
It is worth mentioning that Gohar Mumtaz formed the band Jal in 2002 in Lahore, and the song “Addat” released in 2003 is one of the most popular songs in Pakistan.
