The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the appointment of Samir Hussain as the coach of the Pakistan Junior Hockey Team. Hussain has been a successful coach at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), where his teams have achieved impressive victories in various tournaments including the Hockey Championship (HCC).
The university’s administration, including Vice Chancellor Arum Akbar Ali Khan, Registrar Syed Sarfaraz Ali, and Director Sports Mubashir Mukhtar, have congratulated Hussain on his appointment, praising his experience and dedication to the sport. They expressed their confidence that Hussain’s leadership will take the Pakistan Junior Team to new heights and that they are proud to have him as a part of their SSUET family.
The PHF announced the new coaching panels for the national senior, junior, and under-18 (youth) teams after obtaining approval from PHF President Muhammad Ali Khan Wasti. The PHF has appointed Olympian Azam Mahmood as the head coach of the Pakistan Junior Team, with a coaching panel that includes Olympian Samir Hussain, international coaches Azfar Yaqoob and Imran Butt.
Olympian Qamar Abbas has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan Under-18 Team, with a coaching panel that includes Olympian Rehan Butt, international coaches Yasir Islam and Omar Butt. The PHF has also announced a new coaching panel for the national senior team, which includes Olympian Mansoor Ahmed as the head coach, along with other experienced coaches.
In other news, Australian all-rounder Daniel Sam, who has played 100 matches in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), expressed the desire of Lahore Qalanders to win two matches in Karachi and then qualify for the playoffs.
